Established in 1815, the award-winning house of Ardbeg sits back from the rippling waves of the North Channel. At times, a thick mist enshrouds the whitewashed walls of the distillery, with only the peaked roofs and the black letters spelling out Ardbeg being visible.

The Ardbeg distillery is revered by connoisseurs around the world as the peatiest, smokiest and most complex of all the Islay malts, while being renowned for its delicious sweetness, a phenomenon known as “the peaty paradox”. Ardbeg is considered today to be the most basic malt in Islay: the characteristic whiskey with its fascinating history. The unique taste of the peaty, smoky and surprisingly sweet evokes the savagery of his homeland.
